To facilitating information exchange between John Deere and it's suppliers, file transfer protocol, or FTP is utilized. FTP refers to both a client and a protocol. The FTP protocol is a standard that governs the transmission of data from one computer to another on the Internet. The FTP client is used to exchange files between machines on the Internet.
An FTP client can range from a simple command line to an easy to use graphical application. FTP clients are often times included on your machine, and if not, are easy to obtain from the internet, often free of cost.
FTP sites are machines used strictly to store information and data in a directory that can be accessed by a user id and password. A business sponsor can establish an FTP folder for a supplier. The business sponsor will let the supplier know which directory to select and the password for accessing the information in the directory.
Please understand, that this machine is not to be utilized for supplier - supplier exchange, or for supplier - third party exchange. Accounts are only to be shared between Deere and the supplier. All Transfers are monitored. Anonymous logins are PROHIBITED.
